Golden Wave
THE POPLAR ON MY LAND needed to be taken down according to Bruce, my grader, who was about to level the land where my Dome Greenhouse was going to go up. I cringed at the thought of killing a tree. Heck, I cringe at harming even an insect in my home. I’m known by friends to carry out spiders, bees, and wasps who find themselves either setting up a home or trapped inside.
But the Poplar needed to go for safety, so I agreed.
Three years later as I started in earnest to convert my stick barn into a beautiful Scandinavian Chalet, I cut a length of the fallen tree to create an ocean wave and start the laborious process that would take weeks to turn this wood into a beautiful wave. I’m not sure what surf break it resembles in detail, but I’ve surfed top to bottom barrels at Gravels at Salt Creek that reminded me of this beautiful wave sculpture.
Designed and meticulously carved with various power and hand tools, Golden Wave represents the perfect wave, one that any surfer would love to catch for an ecstatic experience in the “tube.”
What an incredible and motivating gift this will make for the beach loving, always surf hunting individual.
